The Liverpool Echo claims that Jurgen Klopp isn’t interested in selling Croatian defender Dejan Lovren, and wants to keep him for the 2019-20 campaign.
The Croatian has been linked with a move away in the summer, with AC Milan interested in the centre-back (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The 29-year-old struggled for fitness last season and fell down the pecking order too.
Joe Gomez and Joel Matip were excellent in the starting XI, and Virgil van Dijk has turned our defence around since his arrival from Southampton.
However, the report claims that Lovren has made no indication that he wants to leave the Champions League winners, and Liverpool have not received any offers for the 29-year-old.
The report adds that the 29-year-old is expected to return for pre-season training ahead of our USA tour.
Lovren is one of the most experienced members of the side, and the Reds need to have quality defenders in the team for cover too.
Last season saw Fabinho play some games as an emergency centre-back, and hopefully, we don’t face similar injury problems next season.
The Reds have also made one signing in the summer, with talented centre-back Sepp van den Berg joining from PEC Zwolle.
The 17-year-old is highly-rated from his time in the Netherlands, and it will be interesting to track his development throughout the upcoming season.
