Latest Liverpool news: Keita off on holiday as Brazil stars set to return late in July

The Guardian reports that Liverpool expect Naby Keita to be a part of the US pre-season tour despite picking up an injury during the Africa Cup of Nations.

The midfielder had an average debut season at Anfield, which was littered with injuries.

The report adds that the Guinea midfielder has withdrawn from the summer tournament, and will miss the round of 16 clash against Algeria on Friday.

Keita also missed the Champions League semi-final second leg against Barcelona after picking up a problem in the first leg.

The former RB Leipzig star missed the Champions League final too but was selected for the AFCON.

The report adds that Liverpool have told Keita to go on a holiday after being assessed by doctors, and should return for the clashes against Borussia Dortmund, Sevilla and Sporting Lisbon in the USA.

Liverpool’s Brazil contingent at the Copa America has done well by helping the Samba Boys to the final.

The Liverpool Echo reports that the pair will be given three weeks off by Jurgen Klopp after the final on Sunday.

The report adds that the pair will miss the pre-season clash against Tranmere and Bradford City, and the games during the US tour. The pair should be back before the friendly against Lyon in Geneva on July 31.
