Liverpool FC transfer news: Reds want £17.5m for centre-back Dejan Lovren
Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb (h/t Express) claims that Liverpool
The 29-year-old is considering his future due to a lack of first-team minutes, according to the report.
The Croatian was the first-choice under Jurgen Klopp earlier, but last season, he returned with an injury from the World Cup.
Joe Gomez did a great job alongside Virgil van Dijk before the Englishman picked up a leg fracture.
Joel Matip was then brought in to pair the Dutch defender, and the Cameroon star was incredible till the end of the season. Van Dijk and Matip were brilliant in the Champions League final too as we beat Tottenham 2-0.
Lovren also had his fair share of injury problems last season, and it seems unlikely he will be able to replace Matip or Gomez in the upcoming campaign.
Van Dijk is possibly the best defender in the world, and there is no chance Lovren can usurp the Dutchman.
The Reds have signed Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle but the youngster needs some time before being considered for first-team games.
Liverpool in bit of a dilemma
The Reds could sell Lovren for a decent sum and it is unlikely he will improve further given he will be 30 soon.
The Croatian also has a mistake or two in his game, and will not start regularly for us next season.
However, Liverpool will not find an experienced replacement easily, and the Croatian didn’t do a bad job when played last season.
