Latest Liverpool news: Mohamed Salah a doubt for Egypt’s clash against South Africa

Kingfut (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that Liverpool star Mohamed Salah is a doubt for the clash against South Africa at the Africa Cup of Nations.

The report claims that the 27-year-old missed training on Thursday due to common cold, and the Pharaohs face South Africa in the round of 16 tie on Saturday.

Egypt have won all their group games in the tournament, and the Liverpool forward has scored twice in the tournament.

Salah was also in great form for Liverpool as he shared the Golden Boot in the Premier League, and scored in the Champions League final against Tottenham.

Egypt’s chances of winning the AFCON lie heavily on Salah’s form, and it will be interesting to see if the forward is back before Saturday’s clash.

The home team are one of the favourites for the title and should have enough to get over South Africa even without the Liverpool star.

Liverpool need their African stars back in top shape

Sadio Mane’s Senegal are also favourites for the title, and the former Southampton attacker also needs to return without any problems.
