Latest Liverpool news: 16 Liverpool players set to return for pre-season training on Saturday
Liverpool confirmed the names of 16 players who will return for pre-season training on Saturday.
Several Liverpool stars are on extended breaks after their post-season international games, while our African and South American stars are also away at the moment.
The release from the club named some international stars while summer signing Sepp van den Berg will also go through the paces at Melwood.
The Dutch defender joined on a long-term deal from PEC Zwolle and could feature for our first-team this season.
The other notable players who are returning are Fabinho, Joel Matip, Harry Wilson, Ben Woodburn, Adam Lallana, Rhian Brewster, Joe Gomez, Ryan Kent and Ki-Jana Hoever.
Youngsters looking to impress
Kent and Wilson did extremely well away on loan last season, and the pair should look to impress Jurgen Klopp.
Brewster is another player who needs to impress after an injury-affected season. The youngster is highly-rated and could be the replacement for Daniel Sturridge in the upcoming campaign.
All eyes will also be on the progress of Lallana and Oxlade-Chamberlain. The English pair didn’t play too many games last season and needs to do well in the new campaign.
Oxlade-Chamberlain returned from a major problem while Lallana’s season was littered with several minor injuries which limited his playing time.
