Liverpool set to land second summer signing despite Real Madrid interest

Liverpool FC transfer news: Liverpool set to land 16-year-old Harvey Elliott from Fulham

The Telegraph reports that Fulham’s Harvey Elliott will join Liverpool in the summer, amidst interest from several top clubs.

The 16-year-old became the youngest player to feature in a Premier League game when he came on as a sub against Wolverhampton Wanderers in May.

The English midfielder became the youngest first-team debutant for Fulham when he played in the EFL Cup at the age of 15 years and 174 days.

Harvey Elliott

The report claims that Fulham hoped Elliott would stay for his scholarship first year and sign a contract after being pushed into the first-team.

However, the youngster rejected their offer, and the report

adds that he was not a part of the first-year scholars named by the Cottagers last week. The report claims that Elliott was tracked by many Premier League clubs and the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid and RB Leipzig.

The youngster has decided to join the Reds, according to the report, and Fulham will be in line for a significant compensation package.

Elliott played a couple of Premier League games last season as the Cottagers were relegated, and could be our second signing of the summer.

The Reds have already brought in 17-year-old Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle.

Liverpool do well with relegated buys

Jurgen Klopp seems to have a habit of signing relegated players.

Xherdan Shaqiri, Andy Robertson and Georginio Wijnaldum joined after their respective clubs had been relegated to the Championship.

Robertson was excellent in the previous campaign, while Wijnaldum scored some important goals for us too.

Shaqiri also did his bit for the Reds despite not featuring extensively in the second half of the campaign.

Elliott seems to be a smart signing for the future and hopefully, he has a great impact on the pitch soon.
