Latest Liverpool news: Divock Origi returns for pre-season training

Liverpool welcomed some more stars for pre-season training as their first friendly isn’t far away.

The Reds saw one of their Champions League heroes, Divock Origi, return from a well-deserved break.

The Belgian scored three crucial goals in the Champions League, with one coming in the final against Tottenham.

The 24-year-old came out from the blue with some important goals for the Reds, such as the last-minute winner against Everton in the Premier League.

The Belgian was the third choice behind Daniel Sturridge at the start of the previous season, however, he moved up the pecking order with some great performances.

Liverpool want to keep hold of Origi

The Belgian is a free agent at the end of next season, and journalist Kristof Terreur claims that the Reds have offered Origi good money (h/t Liverpool Echo).

Terreur added that Origi could sign a new long-term deal and the forward has been promised a prominent role in the upcoming season (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The 24-year-old did a great job coming off the bench, and it will be interesting to see what his role would be once the season starts.

Origi is comfortable playing on either wing, though his best performances came when playing down the middle.

The 24-year-old should have several chances to prove his quality next season, and many fans were pleased to see the Belgian back in training.
