Latest Liverpool news: Fabinho claims Firmino has won the ball off Van Dijk
Virgil van Dijk had an excellent season for Liverpool as he helped us to the best defensive record in the Premier League.
The Dutch centre-back helped us win the Champions League and was also named the PFA Players’ Player of the Year.
The 28-year-old also had an incredible stat of being dribbled past just once in 56 games for club and country (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Liverpool Echo adds that Leroy Sane was the only player to dribble past Van Dijk, in Germany’s 2-2 draw with the Netherlands.
Getting the ball off Van Dijk might be next to impossible, and Fabinho named one player who achieved this feat in training.
Speaking to De Sola (h/t Liverpool Echo), the former Monaco midfielder named Roberto Firmino as the only one to have done that:
“I’m usually on his team, thank God. The only guy I’ve ever seen winning a ball from him on training was Firmino. Only once.”
Firmino has had a great summer, helping Brazil win the Copa America, but Fabinho was omitted from the squad completely and is back at Liverpool.
One of the best in the world
Van Dijk has been one of the best signings we have made in the Premier League era, and he can only improve in the coming years.

The 28-year-old seems to be comfortable playing alongside any centre-back in the Liverpool team, and he will be one of the key players next season.
