Latest Liverpool news: Sepp van den Berg set to feature in US pre-season tour

Liverpool’s new signing, Sepp van den Berg, didn’t feature in our 6-0 pre-season win over Tranmere Rovers.

The Dutch defender, who was signed from PEC Zwolle, has already trained with the first-team but the Independent reports that he is awaiting international clearance.

The 17-year-old is one of the brightest Dutch prospects and the report adds that the transfer is still being processed by FIFA. Van den Berg can only train with the Reds until he gets clearance and the report adds that he could feature during the US tour.

Jurgen Klopp also spoke about Van den Berg’s situation and claimed that only FIFA rules are preventing him from playing (h/t Independent):

“He is a wonderful player as well, but because of FIFA rules he is not available in the moment, but we have other good players.

“He thought his future should be here and I thought the same, so now he is here and now let’s work together.”

The German added that the 17-year-old has a lot to learn ahead of him and added that he has time on his side.

Another youngster close to joining

The Independent reports that Fulham’s Harvey Elliott is also close to joining Liverpool, and he was in the stands for the clash against Tranmere.
