Latest Liverpool news: Andy Robertson misses out on training due to insect bite
The Liverpool Echo reports that Andy Robertson returned to Melwood on Saturday along with Virgil van Dijk, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Jordan Henderson and Georginio Wijnaldum.
However, the report adds that the Scotland captain could not participate in the normal drills after having undergone surgery on his right hand to clear up an infection.
Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the 25-year-old left-back had been bitten by an insect, and had to undergo surgery (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“It’s unlucky, he got bitten by something not so good – not a dog, I think it was a spider or a mosquito – and it got infected. It’s not a massive problem apart from throw-ins!
“He should be back in training in a couple of days. The rest is good, he could do all of the
programme he had to do.”
The report adds that Robertson was never going to face Bradford on Sunday, and will travel with the team for the upcoming US tour.
A key member of the team
The Scot was one of our best players from the previous season and could get even better in the upcoming campaign.
The left-back has become an integral part of this Liverpool team, thanks to his energy up and down the left flank, and his crosses provide an attacking threat too.
