Latest Liverpool news: Sadio Mane helps Senegal reach final of Africa Cup of Nations
Sadio Mane helped Senegal reach the final of the Africa Cup of Nations and is expected to miss the opening Premier League clash against Norwich, according to the Mirror.
The Senegal star set up the own goal against Tunisia in extra-time as his side won 1-0 on the night. They will face Algeria in the final, which is scheduled for 19th July.
The Mirror claims that Mane could miss the opening Premier League clash against Norwich, with the game taking place exactly three weeks after the final.
Jurgen Klopp has given all his stars three weeks off after their international exploits, and the report claims that Mane might not return to fitness for that clash.
There is some good news for Klopp, with Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah set to return soon after their international commitments ended a week back.
Liverpool need someone to do the job out wide
Mane’s failure to return early is a bit of a problem for Liverpool given his goalscoring exploits from the previous campaign.
The Reds have Rhian Brewster, Harry Wilson and Ryan Kent doing extremely well in the pre-season games, and one of them could face Norwich on the opening day.
We also have Divock Origi, and the Belgian could start against the Canaries on 9th August.
