Russian giants CSKA Moscow have enquired about Taiwo Awoniyi, according to Paul Joyce of the Times.
The 21-year-old Nigerian attacker spent a part of last season on loan at Gent and had a decent campaign with the Belgian side.
Awoniyi scored thrice for the Belgians and has also had spells at Royal Excel Mouscron, NEC and FSV Frankfurt.
The youngster is yet to feature for Liverpool but the Reds want £15m
for the striker, according to Joyce. The Reds have pulled off some great deals in the past, with the likes of Christian Benteke and Mamadou Sakho leaving for decent sums. Jordon Ibe, Danny Ings and Dominic Solanke also left for good money, and if Joyce is right, the valuation does seem a little steep for Awoniyi.
Liverpool haven’t made any big signings so far this window, but we have already seen the arrival of Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle.
Liverpool were extremely busy in the previous summer, but this window has been a little low-key. Jurgen Klopp has built a great side over the years, and we will improve further under the German.
Many Liverpool fans could not believe the news from Joyce and were ready to thank Michael Edwards if the deal was done.
