Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool announce new tie-up with FIFA 20
Liverpool announced that they have tied up with FIFA game creators EA Sports in a long-term deal that will “help fans get closer to and engage with the world of football entertainment.”
The Reds previously had a deal with FIFA’s rivals, PES, and that tie-up saw the authentic recreation of Anfield and the implementation of Jurgen Klopp’s ‘gegenpressing’ football.
EA Sports’ FIFA has done well in terms of getting most licenses from around the globe, while PES fans have often played with the Liverpool name being ‘Merseyside Red’ in previous generations.
The release from the club adds that EA Sports will be the club’s official football simulation game partner, and the newest version, FIFA 20, will be released in September.
The partnership should see content specific to the club being created for the fans to enjoy across our social media channels.
Billy Hogan, the club’s managing director and chief commercial officer, was pleased with another deal and said:
“Both on and off the pitch, we’re always looking for new ways to bring our fans around the world closer to the club that they love.
“Our partnership with EA SPORTS will enable us to give our supporters even more opportunities to engage with Liverpool FC through the innovative and exciting world of gaming. We look forward to working together over the next few years.”
Fans excited at the new deal for the Reds
FIFA is one of the biggest-selling games annually, and it will be interesting to see what kind of content EA Sports develops for the Reds.
Clubs associated with FIFA have seen special kits being launched via the game, such as Juventus and Real Madrid, last season.
