AC Milan have turned their attention to Eric Bailly after being priced out of a deal for Dejan Lovren, according to Tuttosport (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Croatian defender has been linked with a move to the Italian giants in recent weeks, and Calciomercato
added that Lovren’s party had met with Milan’s representatives recently. The 30-year-old fell down the pecking order last season due to injuries and the form of other defenders.
The former Southampton star hasn’t made any noises of leaving the club, did a decent job for the Reds when called upon last season.
The report adds that the Italians are confident of landing the Manchester United defender.
Bailly has just one year left on his current deal and should cost less than Lovren too (h/t Liverpool Echo).
The Ivorian has struggled for games since his move to Old Trafford and did not make many starts under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer too.
United are interesting in buying Harry Maguire, and they might have to sell if the land the Leicester City centre-back (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Keeping hold of Lovren for the upcoming season would be great for Liverpool. His experience is a plus for the Reds, and it would be difficult to find a quality replacement for the 30-year-old.
