Latest Liverpool news: Klopp confirms when Salah, Firmino and Alisson return for pre-season training
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp confirmed that the Reds will see three stars return for pre-season training soon.
Alisson, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah were given extra time off after their commitments with the national team in the summer.
The Brazilian pair won the Copa America while Salah’s Egypt could not go all the way in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Liverpool have a summer training camp in Evian at the end of the month, and Klopp confirmed that the trio will return for this stage of our pre-season (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):
“Mo and the Brazilians will come for Evian.”
The German added that the trio would have time to prepare for the Community Shield clash against Manchester City:
“It means then we have nearly a week until City [in the Community Shield], a strong 12 days until Norwich and then 15 or 16 days until Chelsea [in the Super Cup].
“We have to see. The good thing is, when you have a short break you don’t lose a lot.”
Unsure of when Mane will play
Sadio Mane is the lone Liverpool star still on international duty as Senegal play in the AFCON final.
The Liverpool star faces Riyad Mahrez’s Algeria in the final on Friday night, and Klopp was unsure when Mane would play for the Reds:
“With Sadio, we have to see about him after the final – how he is feeling and stuff like that.
“It will be really difficult. 16 days before we play City, his season is finished. We will have to make a decision, but we haven’t made it yet.”
The Reds should be strong enough to win the first Premier League clash of the season even without Mane.
Salah and Firmino should get the job done in the attack, and we have Divock Origi to call upon too.

It will be interesting to see how we perform against Manchester City, especially with the Brazilians and Salah returning just a week before the clash.
