Liverpool released their third kit for the 2019-20 season, and New Balance have gone for an all-black option this summer.
The kit manufacturers are known for creating some rather different outfits for the third option, with tangerine, electric yellow and royal purple in recent years.
A release from the club claims that the phantom black kit features an “embroidered club crest and New Balance logo in vibrant Tidepool – and the logo of the club’s official headline partner Standard Chartered in white.”
The Reds will first wear this kit in our pre-season clash against Sevilla on Sunday.
The new kit, like the home and away versions, also feature Bob Paisley’s signature on the inside of the neck, and the release
adds that an official swing tag dedicated to our former manager also features on the kit.A graphic across the front of the kit, in Tidepool, pays homage to the shape of the city’s street signs (h/t LiverpoolFC.com).
New Balance have always taken some risks when it comes to the third kit, and several Liverpool fans were up in arms regarding the use of blue.
Some of them were unhappy with the option from New Balance, while many were excited with the third kit this season.
The third kit has always been divisive amongst the fans, and that was on show as they reacted to the black phantom option on Twitter.
