Latest Liverpool news: Liverpool lose to Borussia Dortmund 3-2 as USA tour kicks-off

Liverpool were handed their first pre-season loss of the summer as Borussia Dortmund ran out 3-2 winners in Notre Dame.

The Reds came to the USA with two wins in two games but got off to a horrible start, with Paco Alcacer scoring in the third minute.

Harry Wilson has been one of the most impressive players in pre-season and scored the equaliser in the 35th minute.

Dortmund took the lead in the second half, with midfielder Thomas Delaney scoring in the 53rd minute.

They quickly made it 3-1, thanks to Jacob Bruun Larsen’s goal in the 58th minute, but the Reds fought back after being two goals down.

Brewster scores once again

Rhian Brewster is another youngster who has impressed in the previous two games, and the striker scored from the spot in the 75th minute.

The Reds saw several first-team stars get their first taste of pre-season action, with Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Trent Alexander-Arnold all getting a chance.

Pre-season is always about getting back into shape for the upcoming campaign, and it will be interesting to see how we perform in our next game.

The Reds are still without some key players with Alisson, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane set to return later.

Liverpool next play Sevilla and then Sporting Lisbon in the USA before returning to Europe to face Napoli and Lyon.
