Latest Liverpool transfer news: Saunders wants Eriksen at Liverpool

Former Liverpool striker Dean Saunders believes Christian Eriksen would be a good fit for our midfield.

The Dane is out of a contract at Tottenham next season and has hinted at taking up a new challenge too.

Liverpool haven’t made any big signings this summer but Saunders spoke about their spending ability and claimed the Dane would make us more productive (h/t Express):

“[They could] spend it maybe. I think Eriksen could slot into Liverpool’s team. That type of player who will make their midfield a bit more productive.”

The 27-year-old is one of the most creative players in the Premier League and would do a great job for any club in the top six.

Do Liverpool need another quality midfielder?

The Reds have several options for their midfield at the moment. Adam Lallana and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain should also feature for us next season extensively.

Liverpool also sent Marko Grujic, another talented midfielder, out on loan in the summer.

Eriksen would provide something different to our midfield due to his creativity in the final third, however, prying him away from Tottenham won’t be easy.

Daniel Levy is one of the toughest negotiators in the Premier League and the Reds would be overstocked with quality midfielders.

Eriksen has also been linked with a move to Madrid (h/t Sun), and it would be a surprise to see him at Liverpool.

The Reds have a great team at the moment but need to concentrate on finding cover for Andy Robertson and our wide players.
