Latest Liverpool news: Yasser Larouci leaves on stretcher after horror tackle

The 2-1 loss to Sevilla should not be a big deal given it is pre-season and it is more important to get players up to speed.

Liverpool are still without several first-team stars and handed many youngster an opportunity to impress in Boston.

Divock Origi got the only goal of the game for the Reds, but there were some nasty challenges flying in, mostly from the Spanish side.

Yasser Larouci

Yasser Larouci, who has looked decent in most of the pre-season games this term, was on the receiving end of a rough challenge from Joris Gnagnon in the 80th minute.

The Sevilla star was sent off for the tackle and Larouci had to leave the pitch on a stretcher.

Jurgen Klopp does not believe the injury is bad

A release from the club claims that the 18-year-old will be assessed further while Jurgen Klopp claimed Larouci was a little lucky:

“He hit him full throttle and, in that moment, [if it was] a little bit different position where he hit him then it’s done. He rolls… he is a sports boy so that was OK, nothing happened there.

“I don’t know 100 per cent. It looks like he was lucky but I only spoke quickly to the Doc and that’s what he said, but we have to see.”

The Reds have seen some of their stars pick up knocks in pre-season but the tackle by Gnagnon was uncalled for.

The Sevilla star has apologised for the challenge, however, it could have been a lot worse for Larouci too.

Hopefully, the youngster is not out for long with some Liverpool fans wishing him a quick recovery.

Several fans were upset with Gnagnon too, and here are their reactions from Twitter.
