Latest Liverpool news: Yasser Larouci expected to be out for a few weeks

Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of Sevilla will be remembered for some tough challenges thrown in by the La Liga side.

Although this was a pre-season friendly, the Spanish side were extremely aggressive and launched into several tackles.

Yasser Larouci was at the end of a horrible challenge from Joris Gnagnon and the Sevilla player was also given a red card for the offence.

The 18-year-old left-back had to leave on a stretcher but Liverpool are hopeful that the damage is not serious for the youngster.

A release from the club claims that Larouci has suffered “heavy bruising in his femur bone” and the medical staff will be monitoring the injury.

The club added that Larouci will only be out for a few weeks despite the nature of the challenge.

Youngsters looking to impress in pre-season

Larouci looked decent at left-back in the pre-season games, and youngsters such as Harry Wilson, Ryan Kent and Rhian Brewster have also looked good so far.

Liverpool could have some of them enjoy first-team minutes next season as we have only signed Sepp van den Berg from PEC Zwolle.

We could use some cover for Andy Robertson after Alberto Moreno’s contract expired with the Reds.

Larouci could do that job if he continues to impress, while we also have Adam Lewis on the books.
