Latest Liverpool news: Klopp expects Keita and Shaqiri to be present for Evian training camp
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp expects Xherdan Shaqiri and Naby Keita to feature in the Evian training camp.
Shaqiri returned to Melwood for pre-season training carrying a knock, while Keita picked up a problem in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Liverpool’s US tour came to an end with a 2-2 draw against Sporting Lisbon, and our next game is against Napoli at Murrayfield.
The Reds then have a week-long camp at Evian and Klopp expects several others to also join in the coming days (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“When we get back, hopefully six players can join us. Naby Keita should be ready to train hopefully, Xherdan Shaqiri should be ready to train and then hopefully play, Mo, Bobby and Ali and a week later Sadio Mane as well. They are important players for us.”
The German added that Reds have a big week ahead of them regarding the Evian camp, and the game against Lyon was set up for the players who have returned late.
Liverpool miss a spark in the US
The Reds had most of their first-team stars back for the US tour but did not carry much of a threat in the final third.
