Liverpool FC transfer news: Pepe yet to agree on deal with Napoli

Sky Sports (h/t Calciomercato) claims that Nicolas Pepe’s agents flew into Napoli’s training centre and held negotiations with the Serie A giants.

Pepe was one of the stars for Lille last season as he scored 22 goals and helped them finish second in the league.

The 24-year-old finished second in the Ligue 1 goalscoring charts and is one of the brightest players in the French league. The report claims that the parties could not agree on a deal for Pepe as his agents have high demands.

The Ivorian winger has also not agreed to the deal which would see him join Napoli, but Lille are open to negotiations which would see Adam Ounas join the French side (h/t Calciomercato).

Liverpool have been linked with Pepe this summer, and reports (h/t Metro) claimed that the Ivorian is eyeing a move to Anfield.

The 24-year-old would be an excellent signing for the Champions League winners and could be one of the biggest transfers of the summer.

Pepe would add more quality to our attack

Liverpool have one of the best attacks in football, but we could do with more competition for the front three. Pepe normally plays out wide and will provide great cover for Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

The Ivorian is only 24 and will develop further under the right manager too. Liverpool haven’t spent big this summer, and one or two quality additions can take us to the next level.

Most of our rivals have made quality additions and even though we won the Champions League, adding world-class talent should be a part of our plans.
