Liverpool have confirmed that Ben Woodburn has joined League One’s Oxford United on loan for the season.
The 19-year-old played in some of Liverpool’s pre-season games recently but was not selected for the Evian training camp.
The Welsh attacker was sent to train with the U23s and the Daily Mail
claims that Liverpool are hopeful Woodburn finds his form once he joins Oxford. The 19-year-old holds the record for being Liverpool’s youngest goalscorer but struggled for form while on loan at Sheffield United.
The youngster has featured for the Welsh national side in recent months but he hasn’t been able to cement a place in the Liverpool squad.
The Welsh youngster cannot afford to waste this chance. Woodburn was one of the most talented players coming through the ranks, but he hasn’t lived up to the hype.
The 19-year-old faces a lot of competition for places at Liverpool, thanks to the rise of Rhian Brewster and Harry Wilson.
The pair should feature for the first-team next season and have also been impressive in the pre-season.
Going down to League One could work for Woodburn, after having struggled in the Championship, and it will be interesting to track his performances once the move is done.
