Latest Liverpool news: Klopp unsure about where Elliott will play

Harvey Elliott was one of the positives from Liverpool’s 3-0 defeat at the hands of Napoli.

The youngster joined the Reds on Sunday and played in the game later on. The 16-year-old came on as a second-half substitute for a cameo and did pretty well.

Elliott holds the record for being the youngest ever Premier League player, and Jurgen Klopp was pleased with the new signing.

Harvey Elliott

The German spoke after the game and was pleased he chose Liverpool ahead of other clubs (h/t Metro):

“We signed him, he came here, he decided on us and could have gone pretty much everywhere but he wanted to be part of Liverpool.

“The stories with the boy start early and already he is the youngest ever Premier League player and has broken quite a few records because of his talent.”

Elliott needs to play regularly to continue his development, and Klopp was unsure about where he could play:

“Now he is here so let’s work with him. He needs game time, we will see where he gets that but he is obviously a fine, fine footballer and that’s why we were really interested in signing him.”

Two bright talents at Liverpool

The youngster isn’t the only bright talent to join the Reds this summer, with Sepp van den Berg also joining the club.

The 17-year-old defender played in the last two games, and it will be interesting to see what Klopp does with the pair next season.

Neither of them will start regular games, and sending them out on loan makes sense. However, they are incredible talents and keeping them in the first-team could also help their growth.
