Jurgen Klopp nominated for Men’s Coach of the Year at Best FIFA Football Awards 2019

Latest Liverpool news: Klopp shortlisted for FIFA’s Men’s Coach of the Year award

FIFA released their nominees for the Best Men’s Coach as a part of the FIFA Football Awards 2019.

Fans can vote for their top three choices and other eminent members of the footballing fraternity will also have their say as to who was the best coach.

FIFA have shortlisted 10 names for the award, with the three finalists to be revealed later.

The winner of the award will be revealed at a grand ceremony in Milan on 23rd September, and Jurgen Klopp is one of the candidates for the title.

The German enjoyed a fantastic campaign with Liverpool, leading them to the Champions League title. The Reds also finished second in the Premier League by amassing 97 points.

Liverpool lost just one league game in the season and picked up incredible wins over Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Tottenham en route to their sixth Champions League crown.

Klopp faces tough competition for the title

Pep Guardiola is another nominee and the Spaniard won the domestic treble with Manchester City.

Erik Ten Hag was brilliant in leading Ajax to the semifinals of the Champions League and the league title, while Mauricio Pochettino also features in the list.

National team managers Tite, Didier Deschamps Djamel Belmadi, Ricardo Gareca, Marcelo Gallardo and Fernando Santos are the others who have been shortlisted for the prize.

This should be a straight fight between Pep Guardiola and Klopp, however, one of the national team coaches could also sneak in and win.
