Liverpool FC transfer news: Souness wants Reds to sign players for two positions
Former Liverpool midfielder Graeme Souness wants Jurgen Klopp to add two players to the team ahead of the new season.
The Reds have signed teenagers Harvey Elliott and Sepp van den Berg this summer, and have stayed away from making big moves.
Souness was speaking on Sky Sports and believed that we needed more creativity in the final third (h/t Liverpool Echo):
“Sturridge is gone. They are a bit light
up front . They need a bit more creativity in midfield too.“The players they have in midfield are workaholics but they maybe need someone to change things up.”
Liverpool do have Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain back from a long-term injury, while Naby Keita could be that drive from the midfield this season.
The Guinea midfielder suffered several injuries last season, and we are yet to see the best of him.
Souness not concerned about pre-season results
Liverpool did not have a great pre-season this summer, with our US tour not going too well. We also lost to Napoli but returned to winning ways by defeating Lyon in our final game.
The former Liverpool star claimed that getting the players fit was more important and wasn’t concerned about the Community Shield either:
“Pre-season is not important. It’s about getting players fit. Their season doesn’t start on Sunday, it starts next Friday.
“The game is important but it’s all about getting through the match and preparing for the season ahead.”

Souness ended by claiming that Manchester City and Liverpool would be fighting for the title once again.
