Liverpool confirmed the sale of Simon Mignolet to Belgian side Club Brugge.
The 31-year-old Liverpool keeper’s transfer was a little sudden given that he was on the bench in our Community Shield clash against Manchester City.
The Belgian joined the Reds six years ago under Brendan Rodgers but faced tough competition during his time with Jurgen Klopp.
Loris Karius first replaced the Belgian before Alisson became the undisputed No.1 at Anfield.
Although the Belgian didn’t play much for us last season, there was no doubting his professionalism. The 31-year-old always put in a shift during training and was a quality back-up for Alisson.
A move to Brugge should see him play more games this season after starting just twice for us in the previous campaign. Mignolet might not have been the best keeper we have had over the years, but no one can doubt his commitment to the cause.
The Belgian leaves us with a deserved Champions League winners medal and hopefully, he wins more titles at his new club.
Liverpool have already wrapped up a replacement, with Adrian joining us on a free transfer.
Many Liverpool fans were happy that Mignolet got a move to play more minutes while some even praised his professionalism as he embarks on a new chapter in his career.
