Latest Liverpool news: Keita ruled out of Southampton clash
Liverpool’s injury worries continue, with Naby Keita being ruled out of the clash against Southampton.
The Guinea international also missed the UEFA Super Cup final with a muscle strain and Jurgen Klopp confirmed the midfielder will not face the Saints (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):
“[He is] not available. It’s a muscle thing and we don’t know exactly how long it will take. But he’s not available.”
The Reds also face some concerns regarding their goalkeeping situation. Alisson has been ruled out for a while and Adrian is also a doubt for the clash.
Not the best start to the season for Keita
The Guinea midfielder had several injury problems last campaign but those issues have continued this season too. Keita’s summer was disrupted by the Africa Cup of Nations, and the midfielder picked up a problem in the tournament.
The former RB Leipzig star struggled for consistency last season and even missed the Champions League final. Liverpool haven’t made first-team signings this summer and all the players have to remain fit for the campaign.
This season is a big one for Keita at Anfield, but he won’t feature regularly if he picks up injuries. Many Liverpool fans were concerned about the latest injury, and here are some of the reactions from Twitter.
