Latest Liverpool news: Reds to contact UEFA over pitch-invasion after Super Cup win

The Liverpool Echo reports that the Reds are planning to write to UEFA and share their concerns about the celebrations after the UEFA Super Cup win over Chelsea.

The players were celebrating after Adrian saved Tammy Abraham’s spot-kick, and a pitch-invader slipped and slid into the group.

It left Adrian with an ankle injury while it could have been worse as several other players fell on the pitch.

This isn’t the first time such an incident has played out with the Reds. A pitch-invader ran onto the field of play during the Champions League final between Liverpool and Tottenham.

The report adds that Liverpool are unhappy with the breach at the Super Cup and will share their concerns in writing.

Jurgen Klopp was not happy with the rise in such incidents and did not find anything funny about them (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“But if you ask anyone involved in football if you find it funny that someone runs on the pitch, pants down, half-naked, no-one would say, ‘oh yes, that is really nice’, because you never know who it is there.”

Liverpool should be upset about the Super Cup incident

The slide by the fan injured Adrian and the Reds should be upset about how lax the security has been in some of their games.

It could have been much worse for the Reds had some of the other stars picked up injuries in the celebrations.
