Wolverhampton Wanderers have been excellent since returning to the Premier League.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s team have a chance of making it to the Europa League as they play Torino in the qualifying round, and they caused problems for most of the top clubs last season.
Diogo Jota has been one of the stars for the club since their return to the top-flight, and the winger had a shot at Manchester United ahead of their clash on Monday.
Jota claimed that United are a big club but said that they are losing fans to rivals Manchester City and Liverpool. Speaking to the Daily Mail (h/t Mirror):
“Of course Man United will always be a great team. But when City and Liverpool are winning titles, they have more fans supporting them in Portugal.
“It has to do with the moment and we have to be honest and say that Liverpool is having a better moment right now than Man United.
“Everyone likes winners and when the younger fans look at other countries, they like to see a team that is winning like Man City and Liverpool.”
The Reds have been excellent under Jurgen Klopp and all the hard work paid off with us lifting the Champions League crown.
United struggled last season and will not feature in the Champions League this season.
Liverpool seem set for several trophies under Klopp while the Red Devils will look to build on under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Jota is right in suggesting that the younger fans will be following Liverpool more when compared to United.
We were in a similar position a few years back and it feels good that the club is moving in the right direction under Jurgen Klopp.
