Latest Liverpool transfer news: Leverkusen want to sign Lovren
Bild (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that Bayer Leverkusen are interested in signing Dejan Lovren on a loan deal.
The Liverpool centre-back has been linked with a move away throughout the summer, and the report claims that Lovren was close to joining AS Roma a couple of weeks ago.
That deal fell through but Bild (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that Leverkusen are hopeful of securing a season-long loan deal for Lovren and are willing to pay €3million for the Croatian’s services.
Too late in the window from Leverkusen?
Liverpool cannot make any moves in the summer as the Premier League window has closed.
They won’t be able to sign a Lovren replacement until January and the best option would be to keep hold of the Croatian till the next transfer window opens.
This would give us time to find an adequate replacement or we could push Sepp van den Berg into the first-team.
Ki-Jana Hoever could also follow the steps of Joe Gomez and Trent Alexander-Arnold into the first-team in the coming months.
The Reds shouldn’t allow Lovren to leave now, with the season underway. The 30-year-old has a ton of Premier League experience, and we could use his services should one of our other defenders pick up an injury.

Lovren should get some game time when the Champions League and domestic cups begin, and hopefully, we aren’t forced into sending him away till January.
