Liverpool FC transfer news: Grujic open to staying at Berlin should Reds sell Serbian

Marko Grujic has been one of our best players out on loan in recent years. The Serbian was at Cardiff as he helped them win promotion and travelled with the national side for the 2018 World Cup.

Grujic spent last season on loan at Hertha Berlin and was one of their best performers despite missing several games due to injuries.

The 23-year-old returned to Berlin for a second loan spell and made an impact after scoring against Bayern Munich on the opening day of the season.

The Serbian was speaking to Bild regarding a failed move to Werder Bremen, where the club wanted to fly him in a private jet, but Grujic had already decided on a return to Berlin (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The 23-year-old maintained that it was his dream to play for the Reds but was open to joining Berlin permanently should we decide to sell him (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“It’s my goal to play for Liverpool next season, a top European club. That’s possible if I play regularly and well here at Hertha.

“But you never know in life, maybe Liverpool want to sell me next year. If that’s the case, then I would love it if Hertha would pay the fee to sign me.”

Reds could use Grujic next season

The Serb’s development has been great in recent years and he needs to remain fit this season to get more games.

Liverpool have several quality midfielders in their ranks but could use Grujic next season, with James Milner and Adam Lallana being 30.

The 23-year-old should be tried in the Premier League before we decide to sell him in the future.
