Latest Liverpool news: Salah and Mane might not play international football till November
The Mirror reports that Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane won’t be in international action until November.
The pair represented their respective countries during the Africa Cup of Nations in the summer, with Mane’s Senegal reaching the final.
However, the pair won’t feature until the third international break of the season, according to the Mirror, thanks to the Africa Nations Championship.
This is a different tournament to the one held in the summer and is open to African players plying their trade in their own national league.
The finals of the tournament will take place in January and February, in the old slot for the Africa Cup of Nations.
Mane will not feature in Senegal’s clash against Guinea and his next international game will be the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Congo in November.
Salah to get an international break too
The report claims that Egypt decided to play in the Africa Nations Championship but could finalise some friendlies in October’s international break.
Presently, Salah too won’t return in action for Egypt until November, which is a boost for the Reds.
The African stars have been playing constant football for club and country, and the break should allow them to relax a bit.
Mane and Salah have started the season in great form and they need to be at their best once the international break is done.
We face Napoli in our first Champions League group game of the season and then play Chelsea, which won’t be easy clashes.
