Georginio Wijnaldum stars against Germany in 4-2 win for the Netherlands

The international break might not be to everyone’s liking as club football takes a back seat, but there are always some interesting ties during the two-week period.

Germany hosted the Netherlands in a huge Euro 2020 qualifier last night, and it saw the Dutch come out victorious.

The Netherlands have been on a rise under Ronald Koeman after missing out on the World Cup in 2018.

Virgil van Dijk captained the team last night but saw them trail early on with Serge Gnabry opening the scoring. Things turned around in the second half as Frenkie de Jong scored before Jonathan Tah put the ball into his own net to give the away side the lead.

Toni Kroos converted a penalty in the 73rd minute to make the scoreline 2-2 before Georginio Wijnaldum took over.

Fans impressed by Wijnaldum’s showing

The Liverpool midfielder has impressed several times when playing for the national side and seems to have a habit of scoring too.

Wijnaldum doesn’t get too many goals for Liverpool but he set up Donyell Malen in the 79th minute before ensuring all three points with a great finish in the stoppage time.

The former Newcastle star is one of the most hardworking players in the Liverpool side, and it would be great if he scored more often for us.

Many Liverpool stars were impressed by his performance, and here are some of the reactions from Twitter.
