Nike to cut-back on player contracts as they look to land Liverpool kit deal

The Mirror reports that Nike are scaling down on boot deals with players with an eye to tie up with clubs over kit deals.

Nike already have some of the biggest contracts with Barcelona on their books, while Chelsea and Tottenham have deals with the sports giants too.

The report claims that Nike are keen to sign Liverpool to their portfolio as contracts with them are seen as lucrative business deals.

Liverpool’s current kit manufacturers, New Balance, are in the last year of their deal.

The Reds have been offered the third-highest kit deal in history, which is greater than the one that Adidas have with Manchester United (worth £74million each season (h/t Mirror).

Liverpool a huge brand again

FSG have been able to land several top sponsorship deals since they took over the club, but this kit deal could be the biggest one they have done yet.

It will be interesting to see who we get as our kit manufacturers from next season, but New Balance have done well with all our home jerseys.
