French reports (h/t Liverpool Echo) claim that the Reds have opened talks over a new deal with Sadio Mane.
The Senegal international was in great touch in the 3-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday. Mane bagged a brace in the win and helped Liverpool open a gap of five points over Manchester City.
The 27-year-old has been sensational since the previous season and already has four goals and an assist to his name from five Premier League games this season.
The Liverpool Echo adds that Mane’s current contract runs till 2023, however, the Reds are interested in keeping the forward for a long time.
The report claims that negotiations between the parties have already started and Liverpool are keen on completing the deal soon.
Mohamed Salah might have caught the attention of many over the past two years but Mane did a lot of good work last season when the Egyptian was struggling.
The Senegal star shared the Golden Boot with Salah and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang last season and looks to be in fantastic form just a few games into the season.
Our attacking trio of Mane, Salah and Roberto Firmino were unplayable against Newcastle on Saturday, and hopefully, they continue with this kind of form till the end of the campaign.
Mane has already scored several crucial goals for us this season and he should have a chance to do the same against Napoli in midweek.
