Liverpool trail big European giants in race for Kai Havertz
Bild (h/t Metro) reports that Liverpool are interested in Bayer Leverkusen’s Kai Havertz but face competition from several top clubs.
The 20-year-old German has been in sensational form for the Bundesliga side over the past two years and scored 17 goals in the league last time around.
His return hasn’t been that great this season, with just one goal from six games in all competitions.
Havertz is a German international and the Reds face competition from Real Madrid, Juventus, Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich in the race to sign him (h/t Metro).
The 20-year-old is contracted with the Germans until 2022, but has refused to sign an extension and could cost close to €100m, according to the report.
Liverpool trailing the other big names
The Reds could do with someone of Havertz’s abilities and we didn’t spend much in this summer window.
However, the report claims that the Premier League leaders are trailing the other clubs in the race to sign the German.
Munich and Real have the best chance of landing the Bundesliga sensation while Dortmund is an unlikely destination for the German (h/t Metro).
It will be interesting to see where Havertz ends up in the future as he needs to move away from Leverkusen to continue his development.
