Andy Robertson claims Chelsea fans led to Trent Alexander-Arnold booking

Liverpool put up a mature performance at Stamford Bridge and ran out 2-1 winners.

They had to survive some nervy moments in the second half as Chelsea tried to get an equaliser, but we held on for our sixth consecutive win of the Premier League campaign.

Liverpool were in control of the game before N’Golo Kante scored, but there was one moment which got Trent Alexander-Arnold booked for timewasting.

The Englishman had scored a wonderful goal in the first half but saw yellow for taking too long during a throw-in.

Adrian had already been warned over taking time with his goal kicks, but Andy Robertson defended his mates and claimed that the Chelsea fans had something to do with this (h/t Athletic):

“I don’t think we were doing it deliberately.

“Listen, you can’t expect us to be quickly getting the ball back. We were 2-0 up, we weren’t going to rush and jump in the stands to get it. Their fans got on the ref’s back and then he was rushing us a bit.”

The Scot also had a great game after his tough night at Napoli and assisted the second goal of the game.

Liverpool doing their bit to keep Chelsea at bay

The Reds had to do a lot of work in the second half to keep Chelsea from scoring and the trip to Napoli took its toll on the players.

Liverpool were taking a little extra time to restart the game, but this was the perfect tactic to take the sting out of the game.

We should have defended better to stop Kante from scoring, but winning three points was more important.
