Liverpool fans upset despite Alisson and Van Dijk being named in FIFA World11

It was star-studded night in Milan as FIFA hosted its best awards show for 2019.

Virgil van Dijk was in the running for the best player award while there could have been several stars named in the best XI.

Jurgen Klopp and Alisson won the best manager and goalkeeper award respectively, while Van Dijk lost the top crown to Lionel Messi. That was a tough decision given that Van Dijk led us to an incredible season, and ended up winning the Champions League crown.

The Liverpool pair was included in the men’s World11, however, there were some surprising choices.

Fans upset at Liverpool stars missing out

Sergio Ramos and Marcelo were included in the team despite struggling in the Champions League and La Liga.

Luka Modric was also included, while the other players in the XI were Matthijs de Ligt, Eden Hazard, Frenkie de Jong, Cristiano Ronaldo and Kylian Mbappe.

Liverpool should have had a few more players in the World11, with Andy Robertson, Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah having excellent seasons as well.

The trio was important in our Champions League win while Trent Alexander-Arnold and Fabinho were also great last season. Many Liverpool fans were unhappy with the 11 selected by FIFA, and here are some reactions from Twitter.
