James Milner or Adam Lallana could leave Liverpool next season

James Pearce of the Athletic was answering questions that were posted by the Liverpool fans and provided an insight into how the Reds are doing.

Liverpool lead the Premier League by five points after six games and recently defeated MK Dons in the Carabao Cup.

James Milner and Adam Lallana started for the Reds at Stadium MK, however, the journalist claimed that one of them could leave the club next season.

Pearce was asked about Marko Grujic’s chances of playing next season, and the journalist suggested that the Serbian has a great chance of featuring for the first-team should his development continue.

Another one enquired if that would come at the price of Lallana or Milner leaving the club, and Pearce added that one of them might not be playing under Jurgen Klopp next season (h/t Athletic):

Yeah it’s possible that one of those two will move on. Much hinges on how Grujic performs this season. Can he do enough to convince Klopp that he’s ready to compete for a starting spot at Anfield?”

Tough to keep both in the side

Lallana has been injured for most of the previous two campaigns but started in a deeper role against the Dons.

It will be interesting to see if the Englishman gets regular games for us in this new position, and he could be the one to move on given the talent we have in the midfield.

Milner is one of the most experienced players in the team and is versatile enough to play in several positions.

It would make sense to keep him for another year or two, and the 33-year-old has always put up a quality performance when playing for the Reds.
