Adama Traore’s brace sinks Manchester City at the Etihad

Wolverhampton Wanderers produced another shock for Manchester City this season by beating them 2-0 at the Etihad last evening. Wolves were coming off a hard-fought win in the Europa League and had one day lesser rest when compared to City.

However, Nuno Espirito Santo ensured his team were well-drilled in defence and didn’t provide City with too many clear-cut chances.

Conor Coady and Willy Boly were great at the back, and Wolves had two glorious chances in the first half to take the lead.

The game went into the break scoreless and City tried their best to find the back of the net. However, Adama Traore was a thorn for the Cityzens as his pace and strength allowed him to bag a brace late in the game.

The loss put City eight points behind Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title, and Pep Guardiola has a lot of work to do after the international break.

Fans want Traore at Anfield

The 23-year-old Traore is a Barcelona product and was linked with the Reds in 2015 (h/t Liverpool Echo).

The Spaniard has improved leaps and bounds under Santo and was excellent at the Etihad on Sunday. City had already been shocked by Norwich earlier in the season but this was a belowpar performance from Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Reds have a sizeable lead but there are 30 games still left in the Premier League, so we cannot celebrate too much yet. However, many Liverpool fans were pleased with City’s loss, and some wanted the Reds to sign Traore.
