Dietmar Hamann claims Liverpool are interested in signing Jadon Sancho

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann believes the Reds will be one of the biggest parties interested in Jadon Sancho next summer.

The English winger has been excellent since his move from Manchester City to Borussia Dortmund and is now a regular for the national side.

Dortmund want close to £90million for the 19-year-old and Manchester United are also keen on the teenager (h/t Metro).

Hamann, however, has backed Liverpool to be in the mix to land the English sensation. The 2005 Champions League winner spoke to Sky Germany but wasn’t sure if Sancho would return to a rival (h/t Metro) :

“What I hear is that Liverpool has great interest. I would imagine that next summer they could become one of the biggest interested parties.

“He’s from Manchester City and I do not know if he would come back again, and it’s a thing for Manchester United, too, if they’ve ever been to the rivals.”

The former Liverpool star also claimed that Dortmund could still have the upper hand on any deal since Sancho doesn’t have a release clause in his deal:

“Sancho does not have a release clause. If Dortmund say that they want an astronomical amount, it will not happen.”

Liverpool to land another big signing?

The Reds made news when they signed Virgil van Dijk and Alisson for record fees. However, we didn’t spend much this summer and consolidated the side by handing new contracts to the current stars.

Sancho could be a great addition to the team given his attacking prowess, and he could fit into our plans really well. However, splashing £90million or more on a player who would have to fight for a starting place doesn’t make a lot of sense.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane are possibly the best wide players in the Premier League and Sancho could find himself on the bench more often than not at Anfield.
