Liverpool stars keen to add Club World Cup to trophy cabinet
Liverpool’s Champions League win last season has already seen them pick up a trophy this campaign. We beat Chelsea in the UEFA Super Cup and will have the chance to add to that in December.
The Club World Cup final will be held on 21st December but first, we have to win a semi-final clash. That should play around with our schedule but the Liverpool stars want to win the trophy.
The Athletic (h/t Express) claims that our stars want the competition to be taken seriously, especially since we have never won the title. Liverpool participated in the 2005 edition after our Champions League success but we were beaten by Sao Paulo in the final.
The Reds should be in a strong position to land the title given the quality we have, and it makes sense to aim for more silverware. Getting a trophy after just two games still counts, and that would be Klopp’s third title in a span of few months.
Liverpool need to keep their eye on the big prize
However, the aim has to be to land the Premier League. We came close last season and hold a six-point lead over Manchester City already.
Our next few games aren’t easy, with Tottenham visiting us on Sunday. We also play Arsenal in the Carabao Cup and face Manchester City a few days later.
