Injury boost as Klopp confirms key Liverpool star wasn’t injured in the win over Genk

Jurgen Klopp confirms Andy Robertson was not injured in Genk win

Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool defender Andy Robertson was not substituted in the win over Genk due to an injury.

The left-back was taken off around the hour mark against the Belgians in the Champions League, and an injury could have hurt his chances of facing Tottenham on Sunday.

Liverpool don’t have senior cover for the Scot, but Klopp confirmed the 25-year-old isn’t carrying a knock (h/t LiverpoolFC.com

“We just rested Robbo. We thought ‘that’s enough for today, 60 minutes’. He could do it and did it. He is fine.”

This will come as a massive relief for the Reds as they had some issues with the defence in their last game. Trent Alexander-Arnold and Joel Matip missed the win over Genk and hopefully, they start against Spurs on Sunday.

Liverpool need to keep things tight at the back

The Reds have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and constantly changing the back four won’t help. Dejan Lovren came back into the side during the midweek win, but we allowed Genk too many chances to test Alisson.

We cannot afford that luxury against Tottenham as they will take advantage of any lapses at the back. Robertson staying in the team would be a bonus as he provides us with a lot in the attack and defence.

The Reds dropped the first points of the Premier League season against United, and we need to get back to winning ways as Manchester City will be keen to cut our lead at the top of the table.
