Brian McBride doesn’t believe Kylian Mbappe would fit into Liverpool’s style
Former Fulham striker Brian McBride doesn’t believe that Kylian Mbappe would fit at Liverpool.
The Daily Star claims that the rumours of the Frenchman joining the Reds are doing the rounds, and Mbappe is one of the best in the world.
The World Cup winner scored an astonishing 33 Ligue 1 goals last season and the 20-year-old keeps on improving with each season under his belt.
McBride was speaking to ESPN and cited our high press and work rate as elements which wouldn’t work for Mbappe (h/t Daily Star):
“If you’re looking to continue getting better its got to be the right fit.
“So if you want to improve, you’ve got to play a certain style. Liverpool is a great club, but do you really want Mbappe pressing all over the field?
“Do you want him defending as much as that front line does? I don’t think you do. I think you want Mbappe with a little more freedom.”
Liverpool’s front three put up the miles in each game
The Reds have three of the best attackers in the world but each of them works extremely hard from the first minute.
Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino do a lot of running around but so does Mohamed Salah. The trio works great together as a unit and has helped us to countless wins under Jurgen Klopp.
Mbappe, for his part, would be an excellent addition to the team, however, McBride does have a point in suggesting that the Frenchman would have to work extra hard at Liverpool.
The Reds are a great unit and we should only look to add players who can increase our quality.
