Jurgen Klopp tried to sign Kylian Mbappe in 2017
Kylian Mbappe is one of the best in the world and can only improve in the coming years. The French attacker is just 20 but is scoring goals aplenty at PSG and for France too.
The World Cup winner joined the Parisians from Monaco and has improved consistently over the past two years but he could have been a Liverpool star.
Jurgen Klopp was interested in the Frenchman and tried to land him before he went off to Paris.
L’Equipe reports that Mbappe was “charmed by the eloquence and enthusiasm” of Klopp and the German tried to sign him before 2017 (h/t Express).
Klopp even spent hours trying to convince the Frenchman to join, however, he ended up staying in France.
Liverpool making big moves in the market?
The 20-year-old would cost a lot given his talent and potential, but Liverpool aren’t averse to making big signings.
Alisson, Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Naby Keita are examples of us spending big to get the right players in.
It will be interesting to see what our moves are in the summer window. We didn’t spend a lot before this season and only moved for a couple of keepers and young talent.
Mbappe could take our attack to another level but he has to work hard for the team too.
