Pedro Chirivella wants to return to Spain over lack of game time

Pedro Chirivella has featured in a couple of Carabao Cup games for us this season.

The 22-year-old has struggled for regular minutes due to the competition for places.

The Spaniard was out on loan previously and wants a return to Spain. Chirivella was speaking to Marca and claimed he was close to leaving the Reds (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“I have had two or three windows where I was about to leave.

“Or that I get to leave, but that by other people’s circumstances I just can’t enjoy minutes where I want, which is in Spain.

“The same thing happened a little this summer; I was close to going to Spain again, but due to circumstances the club decided that I had to stay again.”

Chirivella added that he was happy to get chances at Anfield, however, he wanted to play more and was open to leaving in January:

“The opportunities are not continuous due to the players at the club.

“Yes, I would like to find a solution in January and return to Spain. And if not, we would look to next summer to return to Spain definitely.”

The Spaniard needs more time on the pitch

Chirivella’s frustrations are understandable but the quality of our first-team players is just too good.

The Spaniard seems to be cover for some of our stars and has only featured in the Carabao Cup.

The 22-year-old needs regular minutes to continue his development and hopefully, a solution is sought in the winter window.

Liverpool have several options for their midfield and could promote another youngster to take Chirivella’s place.

The midfielder is unlikely to feature for the first-team and letting him leave is the right thing to do.

Ditching a corporate job to follow a dream isn’t easy, but when football comes calling, who can say no? Been following the beautiful game since 1998. Liverpool addict, F1 fanatic!

Massey who is the current head of medical services at Liverpool will leave the club on March 1st to take up a position at FIFA.

Having been at the club for almost seven years, Massey has played a key role in the Reds being one of the fittest teams in the league.

O’Driscoll is widely recognized as being one of the best in his field and Arsenal are determined to keep him at the Emirates.

Gary O'Driscoll

Driscoll has been at Arsenal since 2009 and is one of the old guards who has survived various culls.

Liverpool are an extremely well-run club both on and off the pitch. Driscoll should relish the ability to work with the Reds without having to worry about politics or unrest.

In Driscoll, Liverpool look to have found an excellent candidate to continue the work of Andrew Massey as the Reds prepare for life without the medical genius.

Christie-Davies will now link-up with the Groen en Zwart at their winter training camp in Malta. He is the third Liverpool player to leave on loan this month following Herbie Kane and Rhian Brewster.

The 22-year-old joined Liverpool from Chelsea and made his debut last month in the Carabao Cup quarter-finals against Aston Villa.

Bernd Storck is the manager of Cercle Brugge, who gained promotion to Belgium’s top-flight last season.

The German coach was previously in charge of Royal Excel Mouscron, where Taiwo Awoniyi spent time on loan last season.

Cercle currently have 13 players on loan at the club. The Welshman’s versatility has seen him perform in midfield, on the wing and upfront for the Liverpool Under-23s this season. This could boost his chances of a starting berth.

Cercle are currently bottom of the Belgian top tier, seven points off their closest rivals Waasland-Beveren after taking just 11 from their opening 21 games.
