Manchester United want to sign Liverpool target Timo Werner in January
Manchester United are interested in a winter move for Timo Werner, according to the Mirror.
United want to land Werner in the January transfer window and beat their rivals to the 23-year-old’s signature (h/t Mirror).
The RB Leipzig striker has scored nine goals and has provided three assists from 10 Bundesliga games this season.
Werner has helped Leipzig to third place in the Bundesliga and they are doing well in the Champions League too. The 23-year-old signed a new four-year deal with Leipzig in the summer, which features a £27million release clause (h/t Mirror).
Regular playing time at Old Trafford
The Red Devils sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan in the summer and failed to replace the Belgian. United have struggled for goals this season and were beaten 1-0 by Bournemouth.
The report claims that United could offer him regular playing time under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, which is not a guarantee at Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are our first-choice starters, and Werner would have to fight for a place in the starting XI.
The 23-year-old was in great form last season too, as he racked up 16 Bundesliga goals and seven assists. Liverpool also have the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri, Divock Origi and Rhian Brewster to cover the front three.
