Leicester do not want to lose Liverpool target James Maddison
James Maddison has been linked with a move to Liverpool, according to the Daily Star (h/t Leicester Mercury).
The 22-year-old has 5 goals and 3 assists to his name for the Foxes this season.
Leicester are flying high in the Premier League under Brendan Rodgers and sit third behind Liverpool and Manchester City.
They recently destroyed Southampton 9-0 at St. Mary’s and Rodgers has done an excellent job since taking over a few months ago. The report claims that Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Maddison this season as they scout potential signings.
However, Leicester do not want to lose the midfielder. The Leicester Mercury adds that City aren’t interested in selling the England star and will do everything they can to keep him at the club.
The 22-year-old could also make his England debut soon (h/t Leicester Mercury) and is contracted with the club till 2023.
However, the report claims that a sale for the midfielder cannot be ruled out as well. They cite the Harry Maguire saga from the summer where Manchester United splashed £80m to sign the England centre-back.
One Liverpool midfielder getting into scoring form
Liverpool have several midfield options in their side but one player seems to be in great scoring form at the moment.
The Reds don’t see too many goals from their midfielders regularly, with Jordan Henderson scoring just one this season and Georginio Wijnaldum having two.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain is starting games for the Reds after recovering from his knee injury, and found the back of the net in our 2-1 win over Genk last night.
