Neil Critchley could be in charge of Carabao Cup quarter-final against Aston Villa
Liverpool face a tough task of playing two games in two days in December. The Reds face Aston Villa in the Carabao Cup quarter-final on 17th December and play their Club World Cup semi-final the next day.
Another problem for the Reds is that the Club World Cup takes place in Qatar and that includes a lot of travel for the players.
The Liverpool Echo claims that several academy players could feature in the Carabao Cup clash. The report also adds that our U23 manager Neil Critchley could manage the side against the Villans.
Jurgen Klopp is yet to decide whether he will travel to Qatar for the first game or watch the match against Villa. Should the German leave for Qatar, Critchley is expected to take over unless assistant manager Pep Ljinders remains in England with the side.
Critchley has been the U23 manager since the 2017-18 season and arrived at Liverpool in 2013.
Interesting choices lie ahead for Liverpool
Liverpool have never won the Club World Cup and that is a trophy we should target.
However, the game against Villa could put a spanner in the works. It will be interesting to see what kind of team we put out in the Carabao Cup.
